Actress Lakshmi Menon's assault and kidnapping lawsuit is dismissed by the Kerala High Court.

 
The Court observed that the parties' disagreement had been resolved amicably.
 


In connection with the alleged assault and kidnapping of an IT professional in August, the Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed criminal proceedings against actress Lakshmi R Menon and other co-accused [Midhun Mohan v State of Kerala and linked matters]. 

After seeing that the accused and the complainant had reached a settlement, Justice CS Dias granted Menon and others' request to quash the case. 

In order to do this, they signed an affidavit stating that the disagreement had been settled amicably and was the result of a misunderstanding. 

"The Criminal Miscellaneous Case is permitted as a result. According to the court's judgment, "Annexure A1 FIR and all subsequent proceedings in the crime registered before the Ernakulam Town North Police Station are hereby quashed." 

The case concerns an August 24 incident that happened close to a pub called "Velocity" in Kochi. The actress and her pals got into a fight with the complainant, an IT specialist. 

The complainant claimed that Menon and her friend had stopped his car, dragged him out, and attacked him in the accused's automobile. 

Menon and the others were charged with kidnapping under Sections 140 (2), 126 (wrongful restraint), 296 (obscene acts), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS). 

Based on an affidavit in which the complainant stated that the issue had been resolved peacefully and that he did not want to pursue the case further, the court had previously granted anticipatory bail to the actress and two other accused. 

Advocates Biju Balakrishnan, VS Rakhee, KJ Gisha, Akshaya S. Nair, and Jayakumar C. represented the actress and the other defendants. 
 


The de facto complainant was represented by attorney Vivek Venugopal.
