After the producer decides to change the name amid criticism, the Supreme Court ends the "Ghooskhor Pandat" dispute.

The top court stated, "It is anticipated that this controversy will be quietus with regard to all proceedings."

Following protests from the Brahmin community, the producer of the upcoming Netflix movie Ghooskhor Pandat decided to change the title, and the Supreme Court on Thursday put an end to the controversy [Atul Mishra vs. Union Of India And Ors].

A bench consisting of Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan noted that the dispute needed to be resolved.

We believe that Respondent No. 3 [producer] has chosen the right stance. We pay attention to the affidavit's Paragraph 5. Respondent No. 3 has chosen to use any alternative title for the movie Ghooskhor Pandat. The Court stated in its ruling that the writ petition would not require additional consideration and that it was disposed of.

The Court further stated that all procedures pertaining to the film should be concluded as a result of the title change.

The Bench stated, "It is anticipated that this controversy will be quietus with regard to all proceedings, civil and criminal."

Atul Mishra, National Organization Secretary of the Brahman Samaj of India, filed a plea against the film's release on the grounds that its title denigrated and stereotyped the Brahmin community, which prompted the Court to intervene.

Producer Neeraj Pandey was instructed by the court during the most recent hearing to provide an affidavit attesting to the title change of the movie as well as the suggested new name.

The petitioner's attorney stated today that the film producer had not chosen a new title.

On behalf of the producer, Senior Advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, however, promised the court that the term Ghooskhor Pandat has been firmly revoked and that a new title will be decided upon shortly.

The intention was never to divulge the plot or disparage any religion or community views. The term is just a nickname for the main character. It's about turning a bad cop into a good one. It's just a fictional criminal drama, and the goal isn't to disparage anyone," Kaul continued.

Justice Nagarathna said at this time,

"Pandit" is quite OK, however when combined with "Ghooskhor" (a bribe-taker), It is the second word, not the first, that is the issue.

After hearing this, Kaul informed the court that they had previously promised to alter the title of the movie in a similar plea filed with the Delhi High Court. We have swiftly and immediately revoked the title in accordance with the rulings of the Supreme Court and the High Court. We withdrew it without even contesting on the grounds of free speech. Please add a quietus to it. Somewhere, someone is filing a formal complaint," Kaul said.

After considering the affidavit, the Court dismissed the petition.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, speaking on behalf of the Center, stated: "Respondent No. 3 [producer] has given a very healthy and positive response."

Then, Justice Nagarathna said that even with regard to YouTubers and other internet users, the issue should be resolved.

In response, Mehta stated,

"That is an unmanageable situation. Social media is careless and unmanageable.

In response, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan said,

"Irresponsibility can also be beneficial at times."

Mehta claimed that social media piqued the interest of the current generation more than traditional media.Young people rarely look up information in newspapers like The Economic Times; instead, they rely on social media, SG Mehta continued.

Next, Justice Nagarathna cited a Sanskrit proverb from the Rig Veda:

"Let good ideas come to us from everywhere."

Justice Bhuyan stated that he will express his opinions on the subject in a separate manner.
