All 57 jails in the state now have direct e-filing access thanks to the Kerala High Court.

Inmates will now have the ability to electronically submit petitions and jail appeals. Such pleadings were formerly produced on paper and submitted to the High Court for filing.
In order to enable inmates to electronically submit jail appeals and other petitions, the Kerala High Court has chosen to expand its e-filing facilities to all 57 of the State's jails.
Such pleadings were formerly produced on paper and submitted to the High Court for filing. All jails will have access to the digital filing system starting on July 1.
After a meeting with representatives of the Prisons & Correctional Services Department in December 2024, led by Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar of the Kerala High Court, the decision was made to use electronic filing.
Following careful consideration, the decision was made to allow prison officials to use the High Court's e-filing system in order to expedite the digital processing of jail appeals and other petitions.
All 57 of the State's jails now have login credentials for the High Court's Case Management System.
The High Court's IT Directorate and the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA) created two distinct Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) outlining the steps to be taken when implementing the new system.
In terms of legal aid defense counsel services, the transmission of required paperwork for appeal to the High Court Legal Services Committee, and other associated matters, the SOP created by KeLSA aims to create consistency between jails.
Using CMS login credentials that are given to the official in charge of each jail, the SOP created by the High Court IT Directorate seeks to expedite the online filing of jail appeals.
The Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services has received a letter from the Registrar General of the High Court asking him to take the required actions to put the SOPs into effect.
