An additional judge has been appointed to the Andhra Pradesh High Court by Advocate M Balaji.
A Supreme Court Collegium approved the plan on January 28 to name Balaji as a judge of the High Court.
Advocate M Balaji was appointed as an additional judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court by the Central government today.
In a post on X, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal made the announcement. In the tweet, Meghwal stated, "Following consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President of India is pleased to designate Shri Balaji Medamalli @ M. Balaji as an Additional Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court for a two-year term, effective from the day he takes office, in the exercise of the authority granted by the Indian Constitution. I send him my warmest regards."
On January 28, the Supreme Court Collegium suggested that Balaji be named a High Court judge.The request to appoint Shri Balaji Medamalli @ M. Balaji, an advocate, as a judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh was approved by the Supreme Court Collegium during its meeting on January 28, 2026, according to a statement issued by the highest court.
With a sanctioned strength of 37 judges, the Andhra Pradesh High Court currently has 32 judges.
