Delhi court lets 10 people go after arrest for protesting air pollution at India Gate.

On Tuesday, a Delhi court gave bail to ten people who had been arrested by the Delhi Police for raising "anti-national" slogans near India Gate while protesting the city's worsening air pollution.

Aridaman Singh Cheema, a Judicial Magistrate First Class at the Patiala House Courts, gave bail to the people who were accused: Aatreya Chaudhary, Prakash Kumar Gupta, Vishnu Tiwari, Shreshth Mukund, Banka Akash, Ahan Arun Upadhyay, Satyam Yadav, Tanya Srivastava, and Samir Fayis.

The Court was dealing with a bail request from a student called Banka Akash. The Court said that even though the police said he was a member of a radical Naxalite group, there was no evidence to support this claim.

"Looking at the record shows that the police already have the CCTV footage and videos of the protest." The cops took the accused's cell phones. The suspects have not been found guilty of anything because of their membership in radical groups linked to the Naxalites. The Court said, "Keeping the person who was accused in Judicial Custody will not do any good."

But the Court would not let one protester, Ilakiya, out on bail.

The protesters had gathered on November 23 near India Gate to protest the city’s worsening pollution problem.

However, the situation soon worsened. A total of 23 people, mostly students, were then arrested by the Delhi Police over claims of assaulting and outraging the modesty of female police staff, using chilli spray on a constable and raising slogans for Naxalite Madvi Hidma, who was killed by security forces on November 18.

It was the police’s case that the protesters were told to conduct the demonstration at Jantar Mantar but they refused and blocked traffic and raised slogans like “Long Live Hidma” and “Red Salute to Hidma”

Advocates Nizam Pasha, Ahmad Ibrahim, Arif Ali, Jeet Chakraborty and Ayesha Zaidi stood for accused Tanya Srivastava and Ilakiya.

Advocates Subhash Chandran KR, Krishna LR and Anirudh KP defended Banka Akash.

Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Bhanu Pratap Singh defended the Delhi Police
