India's diplomatic reputation was jeopardized by the Youth Congress demonstration at the AI Summit: Four are sent to police detention by a Delhi court.

Four IYC employees were placed under five days of police custody after the court rejected their bail request.

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) activists' shirtless protests at the AI Impact event, according to a Delhi court, went beyond the bounds of acceptable dissent and jeopardized India's diplomatic standing with international partners.

On February 20, IYC members participated in a shirtless protest within the India AI Impact Summit, which was hosted at Bharat Mandapam. Before protesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and government policies, a number of activists entered the site, some taking off their shirts to display T-shirts with slogans like "PM is compromised" and criticisms of the India-US trade deal.

Four employees were detained by police on suspicion of violating venue security and yelling "anti-national" epithets.

In an order issued on February 21, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Ravi of the Patiala House Courts made the observation while remanding four IYC employees—Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar, and Narasimha Yadav—to Delhi Police custody for a period of five days.

In addition to "donned provocative T-shirts bearing offensive slogans such as 'India US Trade Deal Compromised,' loudly raised incendiary chants, obstructed public servants in the execution of their duties, and perpetrated physical assaults causing grievous injuries to police personnel," the court observed that the accused planned a premeditated intrusion into the high-security precincts of Bharat Mandapam.Such behavior clearly goes beyond the bounds of acceptable protest and becomes an outright violation of public order. It jeopardizes not only the integrity of the event but also the Republic's diplomatic standing with foreign parties, leaving it completely undefended by constitutional protections," the Court emphasized.

Noting that the four defendants are from different parts of the nation and that it is unable to rule out the possibility of tampering with the evidence, it also denied their bail bid.
