The State's response to Tasleem Ahmed's bail request in connection with the Delhi Riots conspiracy is sought by the Supreme Court.

In September of last year, Ahmed was denied bail by the Delhi High Court.

Tasleem Ahmed, an accused in the 2020 Delhi Riots plot case, submitted a bail plea, and the Supreme Court on Wednesday requested the Delhi government's answer.

A bench consisting of Justices Aravind Kumar and PB Varale issued the notice.

Ahmed, who is accused of violating the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), was denied bail by the Delhi High Court in September of last year. In 2022, the trial judge had previously refused to grant him bail.

Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Mohd Saleem Khan, Shifa Ur Rehman, Athar Khan, Meeran Haider, Shadab Ahmed, Abdul Khalid Saifi, and Gulfisha Fatima are among the other defendants in the conspiracy case.

At the request of his attorney, Ahmed's case was removed from the public eye.

On June 24, 2020, Ahmed was arrested on terror-related accusations, despite the fact that he was merely protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Citing the trial's delay and the time he had already spent in detention, he had pleaded with the High Court to grant him bail.

Advocates Mehmood Pracha and RHA Sikander represented Ahmed before the Supreme Court.
