Calcutta High Court Justice Subhendu Samanta was appointed a permanent judge.

The appointment of Justice Subhendu Samanta as a permanent judge of the Calcutta High Court has been approved by the central government.
On April 23, the Law Ministry released a notification to that effect.
"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Subhendu Sarnanta, Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, to be a Judge of that High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,"
the announcement read.
The Supreme Court Collegium's April 16 recommendation served as the basis for the decision.
On May 18, 2022, Justice Samanta, who was born on November 25, 1971, was appointed as a new judge to the Calcutta High Court.
