About Assam's National Law University and Judicial Academy
By passing the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009), the Assamese government created the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA). The University is committed to providing thorough legal education and training at all levels in order to attain excellence in legal education and to advance ethical, legal, and cultural principles in order to support the rule of law and the goals set forth in the Indian Constitution.
To support cutting-edge legal research and studies, the university has set up a number of Research Centers. With a focus on the Northeast, the University established the Centers to address socio-legal concerns and challenges.
About the Legal Aid Cell and the Center for Clinical Legal Education
A shining example of social justice advocacy and transformative legal education is the Center for Clinical Legal Education and Legal Aid Cell. It is an essential component of our organization, which is committed to giving individuals in need access to justice and hands-on legal training. By fostering experiential learning and community involvement, we hope to develop a new generation of knowledgeable, compassionate, and socially conscious legal practitioners. As we fight for the rights of underrepresented people and communities, we hope to close the gap between legal education and practical application. We think that the duty to uphold justice, in addition to learning the law, is at the core of legal education.
