Concerning NLU Assam
Guwahati, India is home to the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, a national law university. It was created in 2009 as a public university specializing in legal education by an Act enacted by the Assamese State Legislature.
Concerning the Journal
The CDSHL, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, publishes the peer-reviewed Journal for Disability Studies and Health Laws (the "Journal"). The Journal was founded with the intention of being a powerful tool for advancing modern, socially relevant, multidisciplinary research and scholarship in the fields of healthcare jurisprudence, disability rights, health laws, etc.
Students, practicing attorneys, academicians, jurists, activists, research scholars, professionals in non-legal professions, and members of the Bench and Bar are all welcome to submit to the Journal.
Concerning the Possibility
A Call for Papers is being issued by the Centre for Disability Studies and Health Laws (the "CDSHL") to solicit papers.
Themes for the Future
Current events and any pertinent issues pertaining to health laws, disability rights, or its multidisciplinary components—such as technology, philosophy/ethics, sociology, equity, business studies, and design—should be the focus of the submissions. They have to demonstrate how they relate to the wide-ranging topics the Journal covers.

- Healthcare Access
- Mental Health
- Legal Standards for Mental Healthcare and Services
- Interdisciplinary Aspects of Disability, including Employment, Education, Social Security Benefits, Basic Amenities like Housing, Social Media, Sports, Socio-Politico-Economic Rights, etcetera.
- Employment Rights and Protections for Workers with Disabilities
- Accessibility and Inclusive Education Practices
- Assistive Technology, Disability Rehabilitation and their Legal Implications
- Disability and Public Policy
- Ethical and Legal Issues in Disability Research
- Non-Legal Approaches and Instruments towards Social Inclusion
Categories of Submissions
- Article of Research: 6,000–8,000 words
- A 3,000–5,000 word research note that provides a concise overview of a particular, recent development
- Less than 3,000 words of commentary that critically examines Indian or foreign court rulings, laws, or reports
- Review of the book: under 2,000 words
- Footnotes are not included in these word restrictions. In extraordinary circumstances, manuscripts that over the word limit might be taken into consideration at the CDSHL's discretion.
Guidelines for Submissions
- British English must be used when writing the submission.
- The Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities, Fourth Edition, must be used for bibliographies and footnotes in the submission. Endnotes and spoken footnotes should not be used. Here are the guidelines.
- Every submission must be unique. Any plagiarism that exceeds 15% will result in the submission being rejected right away. The CDSHL prohibits the use of generative AI and AI-assisted writing tools by authors that do not fit under the category of enhancing language and readability.
- If the submission has been submitted to another journal or not, the author(s) are required to notify CDSHL. If the author(s) accept an offer for publication from another journal (or elsewhere), the CDSHL must be informed right away.
- After the submission has been published with the journal, the author must obtain the express consent of the CDSHL in order to submit it for any further publication.
- Kindly format the submission in accordance with the guidelines provided below.
