On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court asked the Central and Delhi governments to respond to a public interest litigation (PIL) petition requesting immediate government action to save the life of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and is calling for the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia discussed the PIL submitted by activist attorney Rakesh Kumar Saini. An activist for social justice and human rights is protesting a highly unpopular and heavily criticized government decision in order to exercise his fundamental rights. In front of the entire country, he is essentially committing harakiri, the well-known Japanese euphemism for taking one's own life, according to Saini.
The Court stated that it will hear the petition tomorrow, July 16, after noting the urgency of the situation. The Union of India has no representatives present. The petition is being considered. The Bench stated, "We will post the matter tomorrow itself and require the Union of India to seek instructions."
The law officers of the Central and Delhi governments were then instructed to get copies of the plea and order.List tomorrow, taking into account the urgency. In its ruling, the Court stated, "We serve upon the learned Additional Solicitor General and Standing Counsel of NCT."

The petitioner has asked the Central and Delhi governments for orders to forcibly feed Wanghcuk and transport him to a hospital.
According to the petition, Wangchuk's health has drastically declined, he has dropped 8.5 kg, and if he keeps up his hunger strike, he may die in two days.
The plea stated that the nation and the globe would be greatly embarrassed if he died.
Since joining the demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantra on June 28 to demand the resignation of the education minister due to purported question paper leaks and anomalies in the educational system, Wancghuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike.
The CJP began as an online satirical movement that became popular on social media, especially with younger members.
Dipke, a Boston, USA resident, founded the group. It makes observations about topics like media freedom, institutional responsibility, and unemployment through political satire.
Since June 20, the CJP has been demonstrating and calling for the education minister's resignation.
According to the PIL filed with the High Court, Wangchuk is being treated by the government as a terrorist, hard-core criminal, or national traitor, and the government shows no concern for him.
According to the petition, the government should at the very least give him appropriate medical care, even if it means using force, in order to preserve his life.
According to the request, "The simple thing to be done is to take him to a government hospital and force feed him the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals by way of a liquid diet which are necessary for human body to survive."
The petitioner has argued that "the petitioner is sure that the conscience of courts is not dead" notwithstanding claims that the nation's conscience has died.
In order to preserve Wangchuk's life, he has called for the Union and Delhi governments to order them to force feed him.
