The role's objective is: We are seeking a skilled attorney to assist Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited (previously Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited – Sony LIV), a dynamic, ambitious, and fast-paced digital business.
Principal Outcome Domains:
The position requires the lawyer to take on multiple responsibilities and oversee a wide range of pre-litigation, licensing, commissioning, underlying works, technology, partnerships, bundling, sales, gaming, marketing, privacy, and regulatory matters. The applicable lawyer would need to collaborate closely with the Business and Commercial teams, respectively, and offer ongoing support in the organization's best interests in order to accomplish the aforementioned objectives.
Profile of the Job:
Managing the paperwork and negotiations for: in-and-out licensing; content and app distribution; subscriptions (coupons, bundles, coupons, etc.); OEMs; payment gateways; production (co-production, commissioning, underlying works, and development); due diligences; gaming; sales (direct, volume discounts, etc.); marketing;
giving the business team advice on a range of legal and business matters related to the transactions, such as the acquisition of rights, monetization embargoes, the extent of intellectual property, and other contractual rights and obligations.
implementation of suitable procedures and methods to streamline operations and adhere to industry best practices.
Pre-litigation records, including notices and answers to LIV-related notices.
preparing submissions for policy papers, consultation papers, etc. that are published by TRAI (related to OTT), MIB, MEITY, etc.
Help in working with an independent body or IAMAI.
Key Requirements and Educational and Work Experiences:
an undergraduate law degree (LL.B.) from an accredited Indian university.
PQE of 6-7 years [legal experience], ideally with part of that experience in business transactions and intellectual property matters (as described below), with many years of experience at prestigious international law firms and/or in-house at a large multinational enterprise.
three to four years in the media and entertainment sector, with at least two years of expertise in OTT/digital platform transactions.
