Justice is denied when it is delayed, but justice is expedited
The proposed Advocates' Protection Bill is prepared and would be presented in the State legislature shortly, Kerala Chief Minister (CM) VD Satheesan announced on Thursday.
He promised that advocates in the State would have "sufficient protection" under the statute.
The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association (KHCAA), a legal association that the chief minister is also a member of, had congratulated him before he spoke.
In order to honor members who were elected as ministers and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the most recent assembly elections, as well as advocates elected to the Kerala Bar Council, KHCAA organized the felicitation event, Prathibha 2026.
Chief Justice Soumen Sen, Advocate General Jaju Babu, Minister VE Abdul Gafoor, and MLAs Mathew Kuzhalnadan, Chandy Oommen, and Fyzal Babu VK were among those present.

Kerala is given priority by the government. The pending demands of the High Court
Satheesan stated that the State administration has already requested that the chief secretary give the Kerala High Court's outstanding demands top priority. He also expressed optimism that all outstanding matters pertaining to the High Court will be settled while he is in office.
Additionally, KHCAA's own demands
The Chief Minister expressed his hope that the Association's demands, which it had independently presented, would also be handled during his term.
Proposals for new academic programs
According to Satheesan, he has requested that colleagues launch new educational initiatives in the fields of arbitration, admiralty, legal history, logistics, and maritime law.
The Advocates' Protection Bill is prepared
Satheesan said in response to KHCAA president Peeyus A. Kottam's request for an Advocates' Protection Bill,Don't be concerned about that. We'll make sure lawyers are adequately protected," he said, adding that the new legislation is prepared and will be presented shortly.
Hasty justice might also result in buried justice.
The Chief Minister stated that although the adage "justice delayed is justice denied" is well-established, "there is another side to it as justice hurried can also become justice buried."
Drafting accuracy and legislative records
Satheesan said that during his 25 years in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, he has taken part in every reading of every law that has been passed.
He emphasized the significance of careful legislative drafting, stating that he has reminded colleagues that judges would scrutinize the legislation they adopt and that an omission of a comma might allow a skilled lawyer to read a statute differently and negate its goal.
Justice that is rushed can likewise be buried.

Satheesan received a plaque and a traditional ponnada as a token of appreciation. Along with all of the KHCAA members who were recently elected to the Kerala Bar Council, MLAs Mathew Kuzhalnadan and Chandy Oommen were also congratulated.
The welcome speech was given by KHCAA secretary Nima Jacob.
In his speech, Chief Justice (CJ) Soumen Sen stated that the Bar has always been "a nursery of leadership," citing the contribution of attorneys to India's independence movement and the creation of the Constitution.The Bar has traditionally been a breeding ground for future leaders. In his felicitation speech, Advocate General Jaju Babu pointed out that 2026 is the Platinum Jubilee year of the State of Kerala, the Kerala High Court, and KHCAA, all of which were founded in 1956. He said it was appropriate that the Chief Minister was being honored alongside the newly elected Bar Council members in this historic year. "India's freedom movement witnessed lawyers emerging as nation builders, and many of the architects of our Constitution came from the legal profession.
Although this may be the first time a KHCAA member has served as the state's chief minister, KHCAA President Peeyus A. Kottam said that the organization has produced numerous distinguished judges.Chief Justices and other notable judges have come from our association. However, we have a Chief Minister from our fraternity for the first time," he remarked.
