Two Telangana High Court judges, Justices P Sree Sudha and K Surender, have been recommended for transfer by the Supreme Court Collegium.
Justice Surender is scheduled to be transferred to the Madras High Court, while Justice Sudha is suggested to be moved to the Karnataka High Court.
Following the April 15 and 19 meetings, the Collegium released its statement. The proposed transfers are being made in order to "infuse inclusivity and diversity at the level of High Courts and to strengthen the quality of administration of justice."
Justice Sudha received her legal education from Guntur's AC College of Law. She worked as an advocate in Tenali, Srikalahasti, and Kavali after registering with the Andhra Pradesh Bar Council. In August 2002, she was admitted after being chosen as a district judge for direct recruits. She was promoted to the Telangana High Court in October 2021 after 19 years of service with the district judiciary.
After earning a degree in geology, Justice Surender studied law and started practicing in 1992. He has represented the Central government in the Andhra Pradesh High Court as an Assistant Additional Standing Counsel. In order to prosecute the Satyam scam case, he was appointed as Senior Counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In November 2022, he advanced to the Bench.
In contrast to its sanctioned number of forty-two justices, the Telangana High Court now has thirty judges working for it.
